Jason Herbert joined Dairyland Power Cooperative in February 2024 as Vice President, External Affairs. He oversees internal and external communications, government relations, member services, economic development and grants.
Herbert most recently worked at Energy Northwest (Richland, Wash.), where he served as Senior Director, External Strategy. Prior to this role, he held senior policy positions in the U.S. House of Representatives, advising Members of Congress and congressional committees on issues pertaining to energy, natural resources, the environment, technology, tax policy, appropriations, federal regulations and rulemakings, and parliamentary procedure.
Herbert holds a bachelor’s degree in history and economics from Trinity University (San Antonio, Tex.). He has served on the board of directors for the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia and served as board chair for the Tri-Cities Legislative Council. Herbert is also cofounder of Clean Future Northwest, a nonprofit focused on clean energy advocacy and education.
Herbert has also served on numerous regional and national utility and industry boards, including the CleanTech Alliance, Washington Public Utility Districts Association, the Washington State University Clean Energy Ambassadors Network, Nuclear Matters, the Nuclear Innovation Alliance advisory council and the Washington Clean Energy Summit.
Outside of work, Herbert enjoys time with his family, reading, running, golfing, hiking and skiing.
