Employee Spotlight On
Christa Weisenberger
Manager, Total Rewards

What is your job and what do you like most about it?
I am Dairyland’s Manager, Total Rewards. I joined Dairyland in January 2023 and have the privilege of managing our Total Rewards programs, including benefits, wellness, compensation, reward and recognition programs and the Riverside Cafe. What I enjoy most is that my work touches nearly every employee in some way. I like to think of Total Rewards as the meaningful benefits, resources and fun perks that help make Dairyland a great place to work.

What led you to work in this field?
I was fortunate to gain early exposure to the HR field while I was in high school, when I was offered a temporary role supporting an organization in my hometown during an employee’s leave. That experience sparked my interest and ultimately led me to earn my bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. Since then, I have worked in more generalized areas of HR, but I found my true passion in Total Rewards. I enjoy being part of the programs that support employees’ well-being, recognize their contributions and help create a positive employee experience.

Why do you think Dairyland is a great place to work?
I may be a little biased, but as the Manager, Total Rewards, I have to say the amazing benefits, including our Riverside Café are definitely part of what makes Dairyland a great place to work! Beyond that, I truly value our flexible workplace model. It helps me find a better work/life balance while juggling work and family. Dairyland truly supports employees in ways that are meaningful both professionally and personally, and that makes a real difference.

What about life outside work? Tell us about your favorite things.
My husband, Dwight, and I have two children, Beau (6) and Adalynn (3). We stay busy outside of our regular jobs raising chickens (broiler birds) for Pilgrim’s Pride out of Arcadia, WI. When I’m not working, I enjoy gardening, canning and spending time on our front porch with a good cup of coffee. It’s a busy life, but I wouldn’t trade it!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Favorite quote?
“Wherever you are, be there.”

This is something I try to remind myself of both professionally and at home. There are so many distractions in today’s world, so I make a conscious effort to be present for the people who depend on me in one way or another.

What motivates you?
What motivates me is understanding processes and how all the pieces fit together. I enjoy seeing the full picture and watching a team work together toward a common goal, especially when the end result helps others in some way.

I also love a good old-fashioned checklist and the satisfaction of being able to cross things off of it!

What’s your favorite local spot?
I am a bit of a foodie. I may not be a great cook, but I do love trying fun foods and enjoying a good meal out. One of my favorite local spots in the La Crosse area is Red Pines. If I’m looking for something a little closer to home, I enjoy Doc’s Roadhouse in Beaches Corner.

Favorite TV show?
My all-time favorite TV series is Grey's Anatomy!

Dream vacation?
My dream vacation spot would definitely be Aruba. I love beach vacations, and Aruba has been on my list for quite some time!
