Employees are our greatest asset and as part of our People First initiative, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Our employees are a major factor in Dairyland being a Great Place to Work and a sustainable and reliable power provider. Electrician “B” in Electrical Maintenance

What is your job and what do you like most about it?
I am a substation electrician.  I enjoy the variety of work that we do and being able to work most days outdoors.  I also enjoy working with talented and hard-working crew members.

What led you to work in this field?
My father and uncle both worked in the industry and both really enjoyed their careers.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Never open circuit a CT, never short circuit a PT and always tie off transformer bushing leads.  I was told that on my first day in the department by my past supervisor, Roger Giese, and it has always stuck with me.

Tell us about life outside of work.  How do you spend your time?
I live near St. Joseph’s Ridge with wife and three daughters, ages 6, 3 and 10 months.  I enjoy hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling and spending a lot of time with friends and family on our pontoon boat.

What is your favorite local spot?
Fox Hollow. I love to golf and they also have a great menu.  My go-to is the Blackened Bleu Burger.

Dream Vacation?
I’d love to take a couple weeks to go explore Alaska.
