Employees are Dairyland's greatest asset and the key to our success as a safe, sustainable and reliable electric cooperative. As part of our People First initiative, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Dairyland's employee spotlight series features an employee each month, focusing on their interests and what it’s like to be part of the Dairyland team. This month's spotlight is on Foreperson - Mechanical Generation (JPM) Mark Bocksell.
What is your job and what do you like most about it?
I am a Mechanical Foreperson at Dairyland’s John P. Madgett Station (JPM). I have been with Dairyland for over 16 years. What I enjoy most about my job is the variety of the different challenges that happen every day here at JPM. Each one makes you stop and think about what's the best action to take looking at the big picture.
What led you to work in this field?
Spending time and working with my grandpa in his shop as a kid.
Why do you think Dairyland is a great place to work?
Dairyland’s safety culture and the excellent team I am on. We all have a shared commitment to “everyone home safe every day.”
What about life outside work? Tell us about your favorite things.
My favorite and most important thing would be my family. I also love spending time in the country and outdoors.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Favorite quote?
“It's a team environment, so take your time, do your job right the first time, and go home. The rest should take care of itself.”
What food would you not want to live without?
Meat and potatoes.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Right here, working at Dairyland.
