Employee Spotlight On
Sage Williams
Manager, Electrical Maintenance

What is your job and what do you like most about it?
I am the Manager of Electrical Maintenance and have been with Dairyland Power for a little over four years now. The thing I like the most about my job is the great group of people that I work with.

What led you to work in this field?
I was a union electrician before I started working for a utility. I have been in the electric utility industry for over 21 years and have always been on the transmission side of the business. I didn't know anything about cooperatives when I started working for Tri-State G&T in Colorado all those years ago, but learning how a G&T helps people and rural communities thrive gave me a sense of purpose and pride in what I do. I feel the same way about the work we do here at Dairyland.

Why do you think Dairyland is a great place to work?
The dedication people bring to Dairyland—and the pride they take in the work—makes it really special to be part of this team.

What about life outside work? Tell us about your favorite things.
I like to ride my motorcycle, go golfing and enjoy going out with friends for dinner and drinks. I am mostly a homebody, though. I enjoy just hanging out with my dogs and reading a good book.

What’s your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is by Theodore Roosevelt - “Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”

You never know what you can achieve if you don't take the chance.

What’s your favorite local place?
My favorite place to eat is Big Al’s Pizza in La Crosse. Their Angry Chicken Pinsa is the best! Bodega is my favorite spot for a beer, specifically Drekkers sours on tap.

What’s on your bucket list?
A trip to Greece, I was fortunate to visit the island of Crete years ago in the military, but I would love to go back to see Athens.
