Brandon Nofio
Manager, Regional Site Operations
What is your job and what do you like most about it?
My title is Manager, Regional Site Operations. I support the Illinois generating portfolio with operations and maintenance through our O&M vendors. I particularly enjoy getting to travel to the different sites and working with various people. Every day brings a new challenge, which I appreciate. I have been at Dairyland for three years now and time has been flying by.
What led you to work in this field?
I started out in the Nuclear Navy, where I developed an interest in operating equipment and especially enjoyed the maintenance side of the work. After leaving the Navy and deciding to go back to school, this field felt like a natural next step.
Why do you think Dairyland is a great place to work?
In my opinion, Dairyland’s safety culture and people-first mentality are second to none across the different groups.
What about life outside work? Tell us about your favorite things.
My wife and I are big kayakers. We actually met in Bakersfield, California, at a boat launch with a group of people going kayaking!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Favorite quote?
One of the best pieces of advice I received came from a senior engineer I qualified under on Alstom generators. The drawings were all in German, and I was frustrated. He told me, rather bluntly, that the obstacle itself was not the problem—the gap between the obstacle and my understanding was. That gap was mine to figure out, and that perspective has stuck with me.
Where is your favorite local spot?
El Neno Tacos & Tortas in Janesville. The burritos are incredible.
Where do you volunteer?
I volunteer at the school where my wife teaches whenever they need an extra hand and I’m available. Most often, that means helping move tables or heavier items for teachers, but I’m happy to pitch in wherever I can.
