Ben Porath is the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer overseeing the Operations Division at Dairyland Power Cooperative. The division is responsible for bothBen Porath the generation and transmission of power to Dairyland’s 24-member distribution cooperatives. The Operations Division also includes Dairyland’s 24/7 System Operations Center, purchasing and warehouse functions at all sites, as well as future power supply responsibilities through the Resource Planning and Power Marketing functions. Ben was elected to serve on the Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) Board of Directors in November 2021 and will begin his Board service representing the cooperative sector in 2022. He is also a member of the La Crosse Area Family YMCA's Board of Directors.

Ben joined Dairyland as a Transmission Strategist on Sept. 22, 2003. He was promoted to Director, System Operations, in 2007, to Vice President, Power Delivery, on Feb. 2, 2015; and to Chief Operating Officer, Operations, on Nov. 3, 2019.

A native of Sandpoint, Idaho, Ben has a bachelor of arts (BA) degree in Physics from Hamline University and a Juris Doctorate (JD) from William Mitchell College of Law, both in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Prior to joining Dairyland, he was a Project Manager for Open Access Technology International, Inc., (OATI) in Plymouth, Minn. He also held other positions in the industry related to transmission reliability such as at the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP) in the Twin Cities.
