Employees are our greatest asset and as part of our People First initiative, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Our employees are a major factor in Dairyland being a Great Place to Work and a sustainable and reliable power provider. The employee spotlight series features an employee each month, shining a spotlight on their interests and what it’s like to be a part of the Dairyland team.
Employee Spotlight On
Ethan Von Arx
Lineworker – Construction
What is your job and what do you like most about it?
I am a Lineworker and have been at Dairyland for almost 10 years. What I like most about my job is being outside and the work we do.
What led you to work in this field?
I wanted a career that was unique and hands-on, not one that kept me behind a desk. Being a lineworker gives me the chance to do something different every day.
Why do you think Dairyland is a great place to work?
I enjoy working at Dairyland because of the flexibility in my schedule and having Fridays off. It’s also about the great people and Dairyland’s commitment to safety, everyone looks out for one another.
What about life outside work? Tell us about your favorite things.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife, Valerie, and our Corgi named Olive. We love going down to our boathouse in Brownsville, Minn., and spending time out on the river with friends and family.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?\
“If I do this, what will happen next?” Dave Kenter (Retired Dairyland Line Construction Supervisor)
Where's your favorite local spot?
Lawrence Lake Marina in Brownsville.
Favorite meal?
Just a ribeye on the grill.
Dream vacation?
Any vacation during the month of February.
