To gain input from regional stakeholders regarding the future of Dairyland’s retired Genoa Station #3 (G-3) power plant site, Dairyland is hosting invite-only Community Leader sessions

The meetings will be conducted with Ady Advantage, the economic development consulting firm that is leading Dairyland’s G-3 Site Redevelopment and Reuse (R&R) Study.

The study will identify optimal reuses of the G-3 power plant site, focused on the overall vitality of the Genoa area community while aligning with Dairyland’s continued operational needs.

“Through this study, the most viable options with the best potential to benefit community health and Dairyland’s sustainable business plans will be assessed,” said Dairyland Economic Development Specialist Jenny Kuderer-Radcliffe.

A number of stakeholders and community members will be engaged throughout the process. Dairyland has a long relationship with Genoa and Vernon County, having provided support through local jobs and tax revenue for decades.

Site donations benefit local communities & schools

  • Habitat for Humanity in La Crosse has selected a significant amount of furniture and infrastructure items from the Genoa Site for its local ReStore business. The ReStore (3181 Berlin Drive, La Crosse) is Habitat for Humanity’s discount home improvement store. ReStore sells new and used furniture, appliances, building supplies and home goods. Habitat La Crosse uses 100 percent of ReStore profits to build and repair homes in the Coulee Region.
  • The Eleva-Strum (Wis.) School District is receiving donations from Dairyland’s Genoa Site Maintenance Shop. The professional equipment donations will be used by Eleva-Strum’s Cardinal Manufacturing Program at the high school.
