As part of Dairyland’s mission to improve the quality of life for cooperative members, Dairyland’s Contributions Committee manages an annual budget of charitable funds to be donated throughout the year.

The committee meets monthly to review and make decisions on whether requests meet Dairyland’s guidelines. Contributions support community events, specific projects for charitable organizations or general donations focused in our service territory or areas in which Dairyland employees live. Organizations are mainly non-profits and donations are targeted towards community service, education, environmental stewardship or emergency/community crisis funds.

Recent donations  include:

  • La Crosse Area Sports Commission: Each year the La Crosse Area Sports Commission and Wisconsin Interscholastic Alpine Racing Association bring the Alpine Racing State Championships to La Crosse. This event welcomes hundreds of Wisconsin’s top high school athletes making this the largest high school race in the U.S. Attendance draws over 3,500 during the three-day championship.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region: Serving at-risk youth for over 50 years, over 6,000 young people have been matched with a caring adult in one-to-one mentoring. Dairyland’s REACH (Recreation, Education, Arts, Civics & Health) sponsorship will help support a series of events throughout the year offered to Littles and Bigs.
  • Rusk County Shop with a Cop/Christmas For Kids Program: The program provides an opportunity for youth to enjoy a meal with officers, play dodgeball, create a Christmas craft for their family members and go shopping with local law enforcement personnel. Each participating family also receives a food basket at the end of the program to take home for a holiday meal. Participants are selected based Rusk County residency and a child’s need for a positive interaction with law enforcement, not just economic need.
  • La Crosse Public Education Foundation: Each year, the LPEF offers a number of grants, random acts of kindness, and endowment funds to enhance public education in the District. These grants provide opportunities for students and teachers. Dairyland is a supporter of the LPEF annual Grant Award Luncheon which serves as a major fundraiser for these programs and awards.
