Employees are our greatest asset and as part of our People First initiative, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Our employees are a major factor in Dairyland being a Great Place to Work and a sustainable and reliable power provider. The employee spotlight series features an employee each month, shining a spotlight on their interests and what it’s like to be a part of the Dairyland team

What is your job and what do you like most about it?

I have worked at Dairyland for 6 years and my current role is Lead Financial Analyst. There are many things I like about my job, but I think being able to help people understand (and not be afraid of) the financials as well as having a role that is never the same each day are a couple things that I like the most.

What makes Dairyland a great place to work?

There are many reasons why I would consider Dairyland a great place to work, but the employees, opportunities to develop and grow and having a flexible work environment are probably my top three. I would also say that since I started at Dairyland, so much has been changing and evolving. It is a really exciting time to work here and be part of the change.

What led you to work in this field?

I had the opportunity to participate in a Finance youth apprenticeship program in my junior and senior years of high school. With this program, I was able to obtain a job at a local bank and take Finance classes at WTC while attending high school. It was a great opportunity that gave me professional experience and helped me choose the finance and accounting fields as my career path.

Life outside of work. Tell us about your favorite things.

Life outside of work typically revolves around my family these days. We have two daughters, ages 10 and 6, so we spend a lot of time shifting between t-ball, softball, dance and volleyball. If there ever is some downtime, we do like to travel and head to the Burnsville, MN area to spend time with my husband's family.

What is your favorite quote?

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”  Maya Angelou

What was the best thing that happened to you this month?

Our team was presented with the New Customer of the Year Award at Solver's annual user meeting. Our team worked hard to get Solver up and running for budget and forecasting in 2022, so this award is really a testament to the collaboration and dedication within our and the Solver team.

Where's your favorite local spot?

I cannot choose just one - All Glazed Up (activity), The Pearl (treat) and The Freight House (kid-less dinner)

Favorite recipe?

My favorite recipe to make over the summer was Pear Gorgonzola Pizza. My family was skeptical, but it turned out to be one of our favorites! We also recently purchased a smoker, so we have been having fun trying different recipes on that.

Where do you volunteer?

When I can, I like to volunteer in my daughter's classroom on Friday afternoons. I like to take advantage of this time as I know the days will come when it's no longer "cool" to have mom at school.

What do you want to be celebrating in 5 years?

I would like to be able to look back and know I made a positive difference, personally and professionally.
