Dairyland Power Cooperative has donated $1,000 to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, which serves Dairyland’s Genoa (Wis.) property. The Genoa Site property includes a coal-fired generating station, shut-down nuclear facility and dry cask storage installation.

“The Vernon County Sheriff’s Department has provided excellent service to the Genoa Site over the years, and we are grateful for their dedication,” said Lane Peters, Dairyland Manager, Genoa Site. “The sheriff’s department is a very important part of our overall team working to keep Dairyland facilities safe and secure. We are glad to assist in funding an item or program that helps ensure safety in the Vernon County area.”

The check from Dairyland for $1,000 was presented to Vernon County Sheriff John Spears by Lane Peters, Genoa Site Manager; Marty Moe, SCIS Security Project Manager; and John Henkelman, Quality Assurance Specialist. The donation will be used to help fund water readiness equipment to better serve the community.
