Dairyland is a sponsor of the Chippewa Valley Transmission Hot Stick School, being held in Eau Claire, Wis. Lineworkers from Dairyland, East River Electric, Hoosier Energy and Xcel Energy have been safely practicing using a hot stick. "The training is a great way for our lineworkers to practice and fine tune their hot stick skills," said Dairyland Manager, Transmission Line Shannon Duwe. "Staying sharp on skills is critical for staying safe at work."

This technique is used when working on energized high voltage power lines using Live Line tools (hot sticks). The training helps to educate, keep up existing skillsets, and practice critical safety measures. Representatives from Chance and Hastings (manufacturers of the Live Line tools) are one site to teach proper use, care and safety.
