Dairyland Power Cooperative – Employee Spotlight Series

Employees are Dairyland's greatest asset and as part of our People First culture, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Our employees are a major factor in Dairyland being a Great Place to Work and a sustainable and reliable power provider. The employee spotlight series features an employee each month, shining a spotlight on their interests and what it’s like to be a part of the Dairyland team.

What is your job at Dairyland?

I am Manager, Facilities and Grounds based out of the Administration Building in La Crosse. I have been with Dairyland 19 years.

What makes Dairyland a great place to work?

Dairyland has been a great place to work. Everyone at Dairyland has been great to work with and I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of really smart and dedicated people. I have been given many opportunities to learn and expand my career. Dairyland has made these opportunities possible.

What led you to work in this field?

I originally went to school for Aviation Maintenance, but after 9/11 there weren't many job openings in that field. I heard that Dairyland was a great place to work from some employees. There was a mechanic position open at JPM, I was fortunate to get the job. The maintenance positions that I have had over the years have been a great fit with my background and interests.

Life outside of work. Tell us about your favorite things.

I have an 11-year-old son that is in hockey this time of year so that takes up most of our free time right now. I also enjoy working with my dad on our family farm, riding snowmobiles (if there was some snow) and spending time with my son.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given? (Or favorite quote)

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

What’s on your bucket list?

Whitewater rafting in Colorado.

Favorite movie?

Forrest Gump.

What food would you not want to live without?

Lasagna.

Where do you volunteer?

I am on the Volunteer Fire Department in La Crescent.
