Employee Spotlight On
Tucker Schmitt
Supervisor, Vegetation Management

What is your job at Dairyland?
I am the Vegetation Management Supervisor based out of La Crosse with a majority of my work out in the field across the transmission footprint. I have been with Dairyland for three years.

What led you to work in this field?
After graduating college with an Environmental Science degree, I took a tree trimming position while I tried to figure out what I wanted to do for a career. I quickly became hooked and decided I wanted to stay in the arboricultural industry and became a certified arborist in the utility field.

Life outside of work. Tell us about your favorite things.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I stay busy by helping coach my daughter’s sports teams and attending high school sporting events that my fiancé coaches. When time allows, I try to get out to the golf course with friends or complete projects around the house.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given? (Or favorite quote)
“Why not go out on a limb? That is where the fruit is.”

Favorite recipe?
I have a lot of favorite recipes, but I really enjoy not following a recipe as well. Just opening the fridge and pantry to see what I can whip up with what is there has led to some very interesting and surprisingly good meals.

What’s on your bucket list?
There are too many to name them all but a few of the top ones are to go to Norway, golf the Old Course at St. Andrews and to go see the redwood trees in person.
