Employees are Dairyland's greatest asset and as part of our People First initiative, we want to recognize the people behind the power. Our employees are a major factor in Dairyland being a Great Place to Work and a sustainable and reliable power provider. The employee spotlight series features an employee each month, shining a spotlight on their interests and what it’s like to be a part of the Dairyland team.
Employee Spotlight On
Tyler Davis, Foreperson, Construction
What is your job at Dairyland?
I work as a foreman on line construction. I’m approaching my 15th year in June working on the line construction crew.
What makes Dairyland a great place to work?
For me, it’s the culture on the line construction crews and the camaraderie between supervisors, foreman, lineman and the supporting divisions we work with. It’s a tight knit group that has a common goal of efficiency and safety. Dairyland gives us a good schedule that makes it possible to work on the road and still maintain a healthy work- life balance.
What led you to work in this field?
My mom worked at Jump River Electric Cooperative while I was a growing up, so I got to talk to the linemen who worked there and see their equipment which sparked my interest. It always seemed like a cool job as a kid where you get to work outside doing a rewarding job.
Life outside of work. Tell us about your favorite things.
Most of my free time is spent at our cabin in Hawkins, Wis., hunting or fishing and enjoying the outdoors with my son around our home in Ladysmith, when we’re not at one of his ball games. Life is great north of Highway 8.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given? (Or favorite quote)
“You can never go wrong doing things the right way.”
Where do you volunteer?
I volunteer with a dedicated group of people who make up the Ladysmith Driftbusters snowmobile club. We were recently awarded the “snowmobile friendly community” award by the AWSC. We sign, mow, maintain and groom over 100 miles of scenic snowmobile trails in Rusk County, Wis.
