Minnesota Rural Electric Association's (MREA) Mike Bull wrote this piece on reliability, featuring the critical importance of the Nemadji Trail Energy Center. He focuses on what reliability means, the complexity of the grid and finding common ground.

As a combined-cycle natural gas plant, the Nemadji Trail Energy Center (NTEC) will deliver up to 625 MW of baseload energy to the electric grid. It will be located in Superior, Wis., as a flexible resource that can ramp up and down quickly to adjust for the intermittency of renewable energy generation. NTEC is expected to be a critical capacity resource in a time when resource adequacy in MISO is declining significantly.
