The Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center (MVAC) has bestowed a Special Recognition Award to Dairyland's Manager, Siting and Regulatory Affairs Chuck Thompson. The award is given to an individual or organization that has shown exemplary commitment to protecting archaeological and cultural resources.

"MVAC has greatly appreciated Chuck’s constructive, ethical approach and willingness to go above and beyond what was required," said Vicki Twinde-Javner, MVAC Senior Research Archaeologist. One of the areas Chuck is responsible for at Dairyland is obtaining permits and approvals for the construction and maintenance of transmission lines, substations and communications facilities throughout our service territory.

Dairyland is a longtime supporter of MVAC. In 2007, Dairyland received MVAC’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of our "outstanding work" with archaeology, particularly for a project on the Dairyland Reservoir near Ladysmith, Wis.
