The table below highlights Dairyland's solar investments that are currently online and generating power. Dairyland also purchases energy from major solar installations in Westby, Wis. (Vernon Electric Cooperative) and Oronoco, Minn. (People's Energy Cooperative/Minnesota Three).
Dairyland first invested in wind generation during the 1990s with a one-third interest in a wind turbine farm in Chandler, Minn.
The Winnebago Wind Power Project is located near Thompson, Iowa. Brought online in September 2008, the wind farm added a new “crop” of 10 turbines and 20 MW of clean electricity to power homes and businesses. Nearly 6,000 homes in Dairyland’s service territory can be powered by Winnebago’s energy.
